No matter how good a makeup artist is I've always been bothered by the dilemma of the disappearing lipstick. With all the talking and smooching a bride does on her wedding day lipstick touch-ups are a constant concern. So when a professional make-up artist clued me into a drugstore lipstick that did the trick, I ran to my local pharmacy to try it out. Revlon's Ultimate ColorStay Liquid Lipstick was on my lips the same day. It went on like a wand gloss, which was great. A minute later my lips felt like I applied a glue stick to them. When the lipstick dried (about 3 minutes), the stickiness was gone and the lipstick was on solid. I ate, I drank, I kissed; it did not come off. I admit to a drying sensation to this matte color but although the lipstick did not last 24 hours successfully, it certainly lasted the length of even a very long wedding. This is a lipstick I would trust to stay on and look good all night long. Try Perfect Peony with a clear gloss over it for a perfect wedding color. Give it a test run and let me know what you think!

Personalized Prints
We are often asked to suggest an alternative to the traditional guest book and I love this example from Personalized Prints on etsy. Each leaf is a signing spot for guests and the trees come with different numbers of leaves for small or big weddings. The turnaround is quick and as you can see, it's pretty enough to simply hang on your wall (as I did for the Wedding Library poster I commissioned). You have the option to print it yourself, too, and for different quality printing. Fun, decorative and novel. I love this guest book idea!
The eclective VIP Night
The VIP evening, scheduled for Friday 09 September between 6 and 9pm in Adelaide, is the official launch of the inaugural curated bridal showcase that is the Eclective.
To kick off the showcase the VIP evening will give attendees an opportunity to experience some of Adelaide's most innovative businesses in action. Sample some of the amazing food by Let Them Eat, savoury and sweet morsels by the White House Kitchen and Lounge, keep hydrated with beer from the McLaren Vale Beer Company and little bubbles from Mayhem and Co. And we don't want to forget dessert on a night such as this so Steve Ter Horst Chocolatier will have divine chocolates to taste. Along with all of those delights, entertainment will include Lucky Seven Swing, The Voice of Transition and many more to keep the atmosphere alive.
Not only will you have an experience to hold onto but you will have your letterpress eclective ticket printed by the ink room as a keepsake from the event as seen in the photograph above. These are for VIP and online ticket sales only. VIP night tickets will be sold exclusively online, will not be available at the door and are limited to 150 so be sure to buy your's here today to secure your spot.
This is the opportunity to be the very first to experience these amazing vendors that have come together in one venue. It is destined to be a fantastic night and we can't wait!

Real Wedding - Deb James & Michael Matarazzo
On South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula, Deb & Michael married on 29th January 2011 at the picturesque Waverley Estate in the beachside town of Port Elliot. In front of 125 guests they exchanged their vows on a warm, sunny afternoon. There's no denying that the fabulous photography by the very talented Pete Thornton from Event Imaging has perfectly captured the relaxed, happy and love-filled day. The gorgeous bride, in a magical cotton and silk blend Akira gown, was the definition of a glowing, thanks in-part to the makeup artist from Ocea Beauty Bar. There's no denying the love between Deb & Michael shines through in these photographs. We loved the colourful and casual flowers, the brides dress and the polaroid photo's taken by guests for the Bride & Groom as keepsakes. Congratulations Deb & Michael!

Henna Cakes
Sandy Patangay traditionally applies henna tattoos to Indian wedding parties and guests of parties of all kinds. But she's recently branched out with an extraordinary new company Creme-Delicious. She re-creates her intricate henna designs on perfectly delicious little heart cakes. This is how it's done. First her baker creates the chocolate, vanilla or red velvet creations covered in white fondant. Sandy colors each cake to achieve the vibrant Indian hues she seeks. The cakes are cream-infused with white chocolate, strawberry or chocolate hazelnut. Then she painstakingly decorates each cake with piping, sugar dusting powder and sugar beads. The individual serving cakes can take up to a half-hour to decorate and are as beautiful as they are delicious. I think they would make a wonderful wedding favor, or simply an exquisite wedding dessert. Very special.
See my post about the cakes on Martha Stewart Wedding's Brides Guide today!

Western Australian brides-to-be now have the chance to make their wedding a unique event that stands out from the crowd thanks to first ever Wedding Upmarket, showcasing the best of the state’s wedding wares. Justine Barsley, the brains (and operational legs) behind the event couldn’t find Perth’s best artists and designers she’d heard so much about so set up the iconic Perth Upmarket three years ago where 50,000 punters now flock every year for the best of Perth’s designer wares at the quarterly event. Wedding Upmarket is a one-day, one-stop-shop showcasing the best of what Perth has to offer by way of wedding products including invitations and paper product, decorations and props, bombonniere, flowers, photography, gourmets, jewellery, stylists, couture and so much more. Wedding Upmarket opens its doors for the one day event on Saturday, 13 August 2011 from 10am to 4pm at the stunning Mosman’s Restaurant, 15 Johnson Parade, Mosman Park. Tickets are $20 prepaid through the website or $25 at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets please contact Justine on 0432 897 516 or visit www.perthupmarket.com.au.
