Adorable Flower Girls

Seriously, how cute are these dresses! And how cute are these little girls! I think people might look at me funny if I wore it... but I almost wouldn't care.

Wedding Feet

It probably won't surprise you to hear one of our favorite things about weddings: the shoes. You know and love and all that. But, in all seriousness, we know many a bride who has stressed over her shoe situation just as much (if not more!) than the dress.

So when Jenny from Wedding Feet e-mailed us about her site and blog, we were absolutely tickled. Essentially, Wedding Feet is a collection of some of the cutest bridal shoes from around the web. The site not only has her fabulous blog, but also a discussion board entitled "Shoe Gossip" where participants can post questions with photos (like "which shoes match better with this dress?") and the like.

Honestly, we think it's a pretty brilliant idea. And, what bride wouldn't love a go-to shoe resource? Not to mention, Jenny's fabulous taste shines in some of the beauties she has posted. Check it out!

Tejani at the Wedding Library

It's great to have a lot of choices when selecting the perfect jewelry for your wedding gown. And up until now, we've found that brides don't have many choices from their bridal salons or department stores. Our friends at Tejani have solved this problem with their genius jewelry fitting service. Choose the costume jewelry that you would like to try on from their website, and a Tejani stylist will come to your dress fitting with an array of jewels to choose from. The application for the service is on-line, and the service is complimentary. To see the whole collection of bridal and bridesmaid jewelry in person, join us at our Jim Hjelm trunk show on Thursday from 5-8pm. The designers will be there, new styles will be on view, and cocktails will be served! RSVPs are necessary to lindsay@theweddinglibrary.com or by calling us at 212.327.0100. Buzz Bonus: Enjoy discounts on bridesmaid dresses, purses, shoes and jewelry during the show.

Ringbearer Suits

My two boys, Caio and Luca, finally got to be ringbearers! I was far more excited than they were, and it lead to a mad search for the perfect, charming outfit. I love brown, kona to be exact, and am delighted to have found this dark brown velvet Eton suit. They wore it with ecru knee socks and two-tone nubucks. The bride is Karen Hill, the wedding photographer who shot my wedding 14! years ago. She's an amazing artist and an original Wedding Library Member; hope you saw the post a couple of days ago. PS, from the 19th century until 1967, boys under the height of 5'4" were required to wear the Eton suit if they attended Eton's private school in England.

Blue Tux Shoes -- Arriving!

We haven't carried shoes in a while, but lately we've realized how much easier it is for our bridesmaids to find shoes that coordinate with their dresses all under one roof. So we've placed our order for our favorite Blue Tux shoes, which should be arriving any minute. We like them because they are stylish, true to size, comfortable, and most come in silver, bronze and gold -- so they coordinate with all the lovely colorful dresses we carry. We especially like this one which gets high marks for comfort.
The "Maya" is great for the bride or her bridesmaids, they're also a steal at $95! Buzz Bonus: Buy 3 or more for a 10% discount -- a great bridesmaid gift!

Hold on to that Clutch!

Ah -ha. An investment item that you can use after your wedding. They seem to be few and far between with wedding purchases but this elegant clutch fits the bill (and your lipstick). Catherine Rapetti makes them and we carry them. These go from white gown to black tie with ease. Give us plenty of time to order, up to 6 weeks for these beauties. We carry them exclusively in NYC. Perfect as bridesmaids gifts, they are customizable with your monogram. Buzz Bonus: We're offering a 15% discount on orders placed before November 15 -- the full collection will be at the Wedding Library during our Jim Hjelm trunk show October 30-November 1.

Introducing Jim Hjelm at the Wedding Library

It seems like every day we have great news to share with you. Today, the news is that our full collection of Jim Hjelm Just Teas and Occasions is finally in the house and ready to go. It's a new line for us, but we know it's a favorite with brides. At market this spring Jennifer and I were really impressed by the styles, colors, fabrics and price of these pretty dresses. Another bonus is that they often can deliver much quicker than is standard. But that does not mean procrastinate. To give you a push to get started we are offering a 10% discount on all orders shipping after April 1 '09 -- now there's an incentive to cross off this shopping item from your list! Make your appointment now as the offer is good until December 1. Email lindsay@theweddinglibrary.com for fastest service! Buzz Bonus: Our Jim Hjelm trunk show begins October 30.

Gabriella New York Bridal Salon

We were delighted to attend the opening of Gabriella Risatti's bridal boutique last week. There are few truly personalized services left; Gabriella is seeking to remedy this with a beautiful assortment of gowns at her light and airy Meatpacking District salon. She carries exclusive designs by Matthew Christopher, Renella De Fina, Sassi Holford, Amy Kuschel, Michelle Rahn and Carmela Sutera. As you make your bridal appointments, you'll want to have this charming salon on your list. (The gown shown above is a show stopper!) Buzz Bonus: We heard from Gabriella that Angel Sanchez will be offering a small selection of special occasion dresses here soon!

Bride's Head Revisited Grand Opening

Of course, there will be drinks and nibbles and a gift of a 10% discount card to be used at the event or at a later date! See the collection at Bride's Head Revisited.

Keepsake Boutonniere

I love the idea of a special boutonniere.  Sometimes it's difficult to imagine how special it can be.  Well Laurie Cinotto makes it easy.   She creates these keepsake nosegays from millinery leaves, vintage flower stamens, tiny white seashells, feather accents and striped ribbon.  And this one for $17.  A perfect finishing touch.

Yummy Fall Accessories

Two problems, two great solutions. A simple wrap to keep you, the bride, warm as you take outdoor photos or run from limo to ceremony. A modern and sweet ring pillow of softest cashmere for your favorite little boy. Fall is fast upon us and we are happy to offer these soft solutions to these accessory dilemmas! The wrap is cashmere, and $175. The ring pillow is available in petal and cream for $50. By special order at the Wedding Library. (Buzz Bonus: Wraps are available in a rainbow of colors for a great bridesmaid gift--multi-piece discounts apply!)

Bridal Emergency Kit

We're constantly in search of the perfect bridal emergency kit. After assembling many, many ourselves -- we've found this mini-kit that has it all, almost. Perfect as is, if you want to service your entire bridal party from one kit add extra mints, sharp scissors, a whole packet of double sided tape and masking tape. Voila! For $25 it's less expensive than assembling all the pieces yourself. Available at the Wedding Library.  Call 212.327.0100

Adornable

Sometimes you don't have to own the serious bling -- it's just nice to wear it for the day. The ladies at Adorn Brides have figured out the perfect way to make you red carpet -- I mean white aisle-ready! For a fraction of the price of purchase, you can rent the pieces you choose on-line and they mail it to you; mail it back after the big day. This truly is the easiest way to wear the perfect piece, without the big commitment. I personally would like to borrow these beauties for a few days...
